China Program

Who Can Adopt?

Only married couples may adopt from China. Parents must be between the ages of 30 and 50. They must be healthy (China has fairly specific health requirements, so if you have questions, please ask). Both parents should have at least a high school education. Parents who already have children may adopt, as long as there will be no more than five children living in the home. China does have a minimum income requirement of $10,000 per person living in the home, including the child to be adopted. And the family's net assets should be over $80,000. Also, if this is your first marriage, you must have been married for two years before adopting. If this is a second marriage for either or both parents, you must have been married for five years. If either or both parents have been divorced in the past, there may be no more than two divorces per couple.

Children Available

Children available through the China program are primarily infant girls. Generally, the youngest girls available are around 8 months old.

The Process

After receipt of your application and signed fee schedule we will assist you in preparation of a home study (if needed), your US Immigration documents, and your dossier. Your dossier is a packet of paperwork you put together to send to the Chinese government to assist them in selecting a child for you. Once a child is located, you will receive a medical profile and photo. Upon acceptance of the referral, a travel date is set and preparations will begin for travel to China to pick up your child.

How Long Does it Take?

Wait times for China have been rising over the last two years and will likely continue to rise. Families may need to plan on a three-year wait from the time their dossier goes to China. You can see the status of China's latest referrals on the CCAA's official website: www.china-ccaa.org/frames/index_unlogin_en.jsp. or ask us about current wait times for China adoption.

Costs

Total Adoption Fees* $14,160 (+ travel)*

*We recommend a $5000 travel allowance if both parents will be traveling.

Partnering Relationship

Premier Adoption Agency is pleased to offer this partnership program through a China-licensed agency with over 10 years of successful China adoptions.

At your request, Premier Adoption Agency will gladly make available the following information: (a) the number of our adoption placements per year for the prior three calendar years, and the number and percentage of those placements that remain intact, are disrupted, or have been dissolved as of the time the information is provided; and (b) the number of parents who apply to adopt on a yearly basis, based on the last three calendar years. Premier Adoption Agency does not currently have any waiting child program. Parents who apply for adoption through programs with Premier Adoption Agency will not be referred a child for placement until a child becomes available through the appropriate Central Authority in the child’s country of origin.
